The lack of resources is a palpable reality that profoundly affects many people and businesses in different parts of the world.

In Nigeria, limited access to energy and the shortage of adequate equipment are two of the most critical scenarios, since they impact the quality of life of the inhabitants and their economic development.

The installation of solar panels and batteries offers a viable and sustainable solution. Solar power converted into electricity is an inexhaustible and clean source of energy , helping to counteract high prices and continuous power outages in some regions of the country and contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Batteries allow this energy to be stored, enabling it to be used at night or on cloudy days, and thus providing autonomy and stability.

In this context, mention should be made of the Kuramo Development Trust, a non-profit organization that has been operating in Nigeria for over 25 years. It provides support to various entities and projects aimed at strengthening education, training, and social welfare in Nigeria.

This organization contacted Fomento de Fundaciones in September 2023 to request assistance to support these programs.

The assistance was granted under a 50% co-payment scheme, with the possibility of reaching up to 75% in case of need.

Who receives this assistance?

Kuramo Development Trust supports organizations and projects that implement training and capacity-building projects for vulnerable youth and women in Nigeria.

These programs are essential for promoting their personal and professional development, providing educational opportunities, and improving their job prospects.

The Lantana Center, which provides vocational training for women in the hospitality field, has received assistance in acquiring equipment, repairing a water tank, and installing solar panels. The Isuoba Youth Association, Uzommiri Study Centre, and the student residences Imoran and Wavecrest are four other associations that have benefited from assistance in installing solar panels and batteries.

In a country like Nigeria, this assistance benefits the organizations and people directly involved and the communities where they are located, bringing growth, stability, and an improved quality of life.

Fortunately, these projects have achieved significant energy savings and now have the necessary equipment to carry out all their training plans.

The commitment of Kuramo Development Trust and Fomento de Fundaciones is a clear example of how collaboration can make a difference in the most needy communities. Thanks to these initiatives, these communities can move towards a more promising future where energy and resources are not obstacles to personal and professional growth and development. We take these things for granted in our daily lives in Spain, but in countries like Nigeria, they continue to be a challenge.
